Victress, a 5-year-old Include mare, won her consecutive running of the Monashee S. on Saturday in the 1 1/16-mile affair for fillies and mares at Hastings Park (VIDEO).
Owned by Victoria and Robert Gilker, Victress has four career victories, all of them coming in stakes races. She has now earned $154,734 and is Include’s fourth stakes winner and ninth overall black type horse in 2018.
Victress was near the back of the seven-horse field early on until the field hit the backstretch for the second time, when she began to make up ground. Around the final of three turns, she cut the corner entering the stretch to glide by a trio of foes and then outrun Yukon Belle to win by three-quarters of a length.
