Dollar Mountain swooped to the lead at the top of the Belmont Park stretch and drew off to score a 5 1/2-length victory in the 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight for 2-year-old fillies on a rainy Friday afternoon.
The Brereton C. Jones homebred is the 15th overall winner for Upstart, tying him for the top spot on the First-Crop sire list. The Airdrie stallion has three winners this week, and three entries on Saturday give him solid chances to add to the list.
Dollar Mountain raced along the rail in third for the first six furlongs, but then was taken three-wide at the top of the stretch and rolled to the lead, then pulled away easily for the win.
Dollar Mountain is out of Constantinople and is a half-sister to multiple stakes-placed Hey Niki. This is also the family of graded stakes winners Silver Reunion, Comic Strip and Silver Comic.
