Royal Charlotte continued her ascent through the ranks of 3-year-old fillies with a convincing score in the $75,000 Hystericalady S. on Memorial Day at Monmouth Park, winning by 2 1/2-lengths under a very confident ride by Joe Bravo.
The Cairo Prince filly kicked off her career with a March 16th maiden special weight win at Gulfstream Park, then won a Keeneland allowance over the off going before Monday’s victory. Her three wins have netted $119,400 for First Row Partners.
Away last in the field of five fillies, Royal Charlotte was still just two lengths from the front as the compact field made the first quarter-mile in :22.13. Going three-wide on the turn, she swept to the lead quickly and was two lengths in front at the top of the stretch. Going easily the rest of the way, she was geared down late to stop the timer in 1:09.92 for the six furlongs.
“I wasn’t going to get fancy out there,” said winning rider Joe Bravo. “This horse outran everybody. She just ran faster than the rest of them. She was in full control.”
Bred in Kentucky by Rhineshire Farms LLC, Royal Charlotte is the first foal out of Sass and Class. She is Cairo Prince’s fifth stakes winner to date. The Airdrie stallion ranks in the top 3 of the 2019 Second-Crop Sire list by earnings, stakes wins, stakes winners, and winners.
