The legend of Lady Eli continues to grow. The brilliant daughter of Divine Park ran her record to a perfect 5 for 5 with a sensational win in Sunday’s $200,000 Wonder Again Stakes at Belmont Park. Bet down to 1-9, the 2014 Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Filly Turf heroine gave her bettors temporary reason for concern as she appeared hopelessly blocked in the stretch and forced to be well behind the slow fractions of the frontrunners. However, as is her custom, she demonstrated an electrifying turn of foot when the seas finally parted and she was remarkably able to win geared down in the end. It was another amazing performance by a filly that is widely acknowledged as being one of the sport’s most exciting athletes.
