August 23, 2003 at Thistledown: After winning by a nose on July 19th at the same track, Sheikh and Awe tried stakes company for the first time with other Ohio-breds in the Miss Ohio Stakes.
From a comfortable third placement, she dug in late with a wide move to finish clear for second. Looks like she is learning the game and should move up from this effort.
Owned by George Smith, the bay 2yo filly is out of the Sheikh Albadou mare, Albasou. Her earnings are now $16,600 from two starts – a win and a second. We’ll keep our eyes on her!
