FRESHMAN SIRE PROUD CITIZEN HAS HIS FIRST WINNER ON DERBY DAY!
MOTOVATO, by Proud Citizen out of the Slew City Slew mare Buffalo Bird Woman, won his first start for trainer Gary Contessa in dominating fashion in a Delaware Park $40,300 Maiden Special Weight.
Sent away as the 4/5 crowd’s choice, Motovato broke alertly to vie for the early lead outside. Given his cue at the top of the stretch by Jockey Jose Lezcano, the colt effortlessly increased his lead to more than 9 lengths, winning completely geared down:

The first winner for his GII winning and G1 Derby placed sire, Motovato was stamped a TDN RISING STAR, and gives every indication he will be a star in this year’s 2yo ranks!
