Cairo Prince, whose first crop are weanlings this year, had a session-topper for a freshman sire Wednesday at Keeneland when a colt by the Airdrie stallion brought a winning bid of $120,000.
Consigned by Airdrie’s Brereton C. Jones, hip No. 3339 went to Steve Shahinian on behalf of Harvey Clarke. The Kentucky-bred colt is out of Holiday Kiss, who is a half-sister to Grade 1-winning millionaire Request For Parole.
Cairo Prince’s first crop has been one of the most sought after this sale, with an average price to date of $93,055 for 18 lots sold, the second-best average for all first-year stallions with more than one lot to sell.
