Shady Well Stakes – $144,868
5 1/2 furlongs at Woodbine
Talented Mark Casse trained filly ROXY GAP burst on to the Woodbine scene with a 6 1/2 length romp in her 5 furlong debut on July 3rd. Casse commented “We had never really let her do a lot. Until you push down on the gas pedal, you never know how good they are. I don’t usually get nervous. I was very nervous for this. Maybe because I think she could be a really good horse”.
Obviously his intuition was correct… the bay filly broke sharply, angled to the outside and stalked the pace through the first 1/4 mile. Taking over at the top of the stretch Roxy Gap quickly put rivals away and strode clear under a confident hand ride to win by 2 1/2.
Record: 2-2-0-0 $123,960.
