GOLDEN COMMANDER ran the final 1/8 in 11:1 to win the $100,000 added Saratoga Stake. His final time was 1:48:4 for the 1 1/8 mile West Point Hcp. on a course rated good.
After a slow break jockey Castellano saved ground on the inside, turning for home he saw a chance to kick through as a gap opened on the rail, Golden Commander responded gamely surging to the front in a sharp final 1/8th and posting a 1/2 length victory.
