$75,000 Gold Rush Stakes
Golden Gate 1m
Racing in the colors of the seemingly omnipresent West Point Stables, Friends Lakes’ talented son Merus Miami continued his sire’s hot streak in taking the $75,000 Gold Rush Stakes on Saturday. As would be expected of a son of the great AP Indy, Friends Lakes’ progeny are already showing an affinity for two turns and Merus Miami demonstrated that the longer he goes, the better he’ll be. Inhaling the front runners in a desicive last-to-first move, Merus Miami won off as much the best and stamped himself as a leading contender for next month’s California Derby. Already the sire of 16 individual two-year-old winners, including Merus Miami and the Churchill Downs graded stakes winner Screen Your Friend, Friends Lake is quickly demonstrating to breeders that he has every chance to be a truly top sire for years to come.
An Airdrie bred, Airdrie would like to congratulate the connections of Merus Miami, Terry Finley’s West Point Stables and bloodstock advisor Buzz Chace and trainer O.J Jauregui!
