DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’: PROUD CITIZEN’S BELIEVE YOU CAN TAKES THE GIII TEMPTED STAKES AT BELMONT

Proud Citizen wasted very little time in becoming a hot commodity amongst the central Kentucky stallion ranks.  Back in 2008, his first crop was hitting the racetrack with a vengence, as his daughter Proud Spell was quickly establishing herself as the Nation’s top rated three-year-old filly.  With this early success came a rise in both stud fee and mare quality, and his 2008 book of mares proved to be his finest to date.  Fast forwarding to 2011, we are seeing that Proud Citizen has taken full advantage of that banner crop, as his current two-year-olds, products of that 2008 breeding season, are achieving just what has been expected of them.  On Sunday, Proud Citizen’s supremely talented 2yo daughter Believe You Can established herself as one of the top juvenile fillies in the country with her easy win in the GIII Tempted Stakes at Belmont.  Now a winner of her last three for trainer Larry Jones, the Airdrie Stud homebred looks to have a huge future ahead of her.

However, Believe You Can wasn’t the only promising 2-year-old Proud Citizen to star in the past week.  On Saturday, Citizen Advocate took the $150,000 Presque Isle Debutante Stakes for her second consecutive stakes tally, and 2yo colt Mark Valeski stamped himself as a potentioal star with an effortless 4 1/2  length MSW win at Delaware for top trainer Larry Jones.

With the exploits of this 2-year-old crop and the fact that his yearlings come from an even more impressive group of mares, its very easy to be awfully bullish on Proud Citizen’s future.

Think About It!
