Creative Cause chalked up his sixth stakes winner of 2018 Wednesday at Del Mar when the 2-year-old filly Creative Instinct scored a front-running victory in the $100,000 Generous Portion S.
Made the odds-on favorite follow her sharp maiden debut win on Aug. 1, Creative Instinct had the outside post in the field of six in Wednesday’s six-furlong contest. After breaking very well, the gray filly made the lead, with Mucho Unusual nearly on even terms to her inside.
That pair raced together as they separated from the the field around the turn. After a half-mile in :46.03, Creative Instinct began to pull away and ultimately crossed the wire 2 1/4-lengths to the good while getting the distance in 1:12.24.
Owned by Gary Barber, the winner is now a perfect two-for-two and has earned $93,000. Bred by Mikel Harrington and Particia Harr’s Revocable Trust, Creative Instinct is the first foal out of Teacher Teacher and sold for $285,000 at the 2018 OBS March 2-year-old Sale.
