A filly from the first crop of Cairo Prince hammered for $375,000 during the first day of the June 13-15 OBS Two-Year-Old sale, the top price paid for a filly and the second-highest overall at Monday’s session.
The filly’s final sale price is also the second-most paid at auction this year for a filly by a Freshman Sire. Cairo Prince’s first runners have also just recently hit the track, with his first winner, Abyssinian dazzling her debut, taking a $100,000 Belmont Park maiden special weight at five furlongs by an eye-opening seven lengths.
At OBS, Price Thoroughbreds LLC, agent, consigned hip No. 61, who was purchased by the Baoma Corp. The bay filly is out of the Bates Motel mare Motel Lass, who is also the dam of stakes winners Stormin’ Lyon and Quick Flip.
“[She is] probably one of the smartest horses I ever had that had talent to go with it,” Andro Price said after the filly had sold.
