Avanti Bello duels to victory in Tiznow S.

Avanti Bello, a 5-year-old son of Include, won Sunday’s $100,000 Tiznow S. at Santa Anita Park for the second consecutive year, this time by 1 3/4-lengths under a well-judged ride by Flavien Prat.

After taking the Tiznow by a nose in 2016, this year’s victory came with somewhat less drama. Prat had Avanti Bello in an ideal spot in second just behind Acceptance for the first six furlongs, then pounced on the pacesetter at the top of the stretch and was widening his lead at the wire as Grazen Sky came from well off the pace to be a non-threatening second.

“We had a good trip. The first part of the race, we didn’t go that fast which is good for him,” said Prat. “He doesn’t have a lot of speed the first part, but he needs to be right there at the end. With not a lot of speed I didn’t have to rush him.”

Avanti Bello’s record now stands at 6-3-6 in 23 starts, with seven stakes wins and placings as part of his record. He has earned $413,416 for Wonderland Racing Stables and partners.

The Tiznow winner is Include’s third stakes horse of 2017, along with All Included, runner-up in the Gulfstream Park Turf H. (G1) and Grade 3-placed Night Time Inc (ARG).

Include’s progeny have banked more than $45 million worldwide, with three champions and and 19 Graded Stakes Winners to his credit.
