Summer Front, a multiple graded stakes winning millionaire by leading sire War Front, has been retired to Brereton and Elizabeth Jones’s Airdrie Stud. A $475,000 Keeneland April purchase by agent Steve Young, Summer Front raced in the colors of Thomas A. Moore’s Waterford Stable and retires a four-time graded stakes winner with earnings of over $1,077,000. An undefeated and two-times stakes winner at 2 for trainer Christophe Clement, Summer Front went on to capture seven stakes during a career that also saw him place in 5 Grade 1 events. Bred in Kentucky by Mike Ryan, Summer Front is out of the Grade 1 producing El Prado (IRE) mare Rose of Summer. His half-sister, Laragh, captured the 2008 Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet Stakes.
“Getting Summer Front in the Airdrie stallion barn has been an absolute priority for us for the last two years, and we couldn’t be more excited about his future and what he’ll mean for this farm,” said Airdrie’s Brereton Jones. “War Front is giving every possible indication that he’s going to be one of the truly important sires of a generation, and we’re convinced that Summer Front will carve out his own enormous piece of that legacy. When people watch his races, see that monster turn of foot at a mile, and then come out to the farm to see him – I know they will be just as excited as we are. He’s 16.1, perfectly balanced and is absolute, total class. We’ll be throwing the full support of the best of our broodmare band behind him and we couldn’t be more excited to see where he takes us.”
Summer Front will stand the 2016 breeding season for a $10,000 stands and nurses fee. He will be available for inspection at the Airdrie stallion barn beginning Breeders’ Cup week.
