Creative Cause colt a ‘Rising Star’ in debut

Running Mate powered to a six-length victory in his maiden special weight debut Wednesday at Delaware Park to become the first “TDN Rising Star” for leading freshman sire Creative Cause.

Creative Cause’s stellar first crop includes 11 winners, topped by $125,000 Landaluce S. winner Theonewewaitedfor and the stakes-placed winner Milton Freewater. The Airdrie Stud stallion ranks second by earnings and third by winners on the 2016 Freshman Sire list.

Running Mate, a dark bay colt owned by his breeder Bret Jones, was always in command of the six-furlong contest, drawing clear around the half-way point and winning with plenty in reserve. The final time was 1:10.48 (VIDEO).

Running Mate is the first foal out of Street Mate, who has since produced a yearling full-brother to the winner and a weanling filly by Majesticperfection, who stands at the Jones family’s Airdrie Stud along with Creative Cause. She was bred back to Summer Front, who stood his first season at stud at Airdrie this year.
