Pretty Perfection flawless in $125,000 Ladies’ Turf Sprint S.

Pretty Perfection won her second straight start on the Gulfstream Park grass, and first career stakes, with a sparkling effort in Saturday’s $125,000 Ladies’ Turf Sprint S. for the 5-year-old daughter of Majesticperfection.

Majesticperfection wrapped up a banner 2016 as the #2 Third-Crop Sire by AEI, with 48 winners and progeny earnings topping $2.5 million for the year.

As the field burst out of the gate, Pretty Perfection found her way towards the rail after a pair of horses to her inside battled for the early lead. Nik Juarez guided the Stoneway Farm colorbearer off the fence to make his move from fifth towards the leaders.

Coming into the stretch, Pretty Perfection was making up ground with every stride and ultimately collared Everything Lovely with about a sixteenth of a mile to run and was striding away powerfully as  she hit the wire almost two lengths in front.

“It was great timing, Nik rode a great race,” said winning trainer Kelly Breen. “It looked like there was something going on the inside halfway through the turn. We avoided it, he tipped out. She was training almost identical to how she was for her last race (Gulfstream allowance win on Jan. 4), so I was hoping she’d give us the same performance.”

Lightly raced in her career, Pretty Perfection upped her record to 5-0-3 in 12 starts and her bankroll to $184,450. Her dam Suchaprettygirl is a sister to millionaire and Grade 1 winner Sweet Talker, as well as multiple graded stakes winner Silver Medallion.

Stoneway purchased Pretty Perfection for $155,000 out of the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
