Creative Cause got his newest stakes winner Saturday when Twisted Tom made up four lengths in the final furlong of the $100,000 Private Terms S. to nip odds-on favorite O Dionysus by a nose on the wire (VIDEO).
“I wasn’t sure, I thought it was very close,” said winning jockey Feargal Lynch of the photo finish.
“(Trainer Chad) Brown said, ‘Listen, he’s not going to make up six lengths’ but luckily there was enough pace and they came back to us,” he added. “When he switched leads and I got him to the outside and there was no kickback, he got it rolling.”
The outcome was in doubt for Twisted Tom until the final strides, when he closed with a rush to finish the 1 1/16-miles for 1:45.68.
Bred in New York by Dr. William Wilmot and Dr. Joan Taylor, Twisted Tom now has three wins from five starts and earnings of $134,040 with three wins in five starts.
The winner is owned by Cobra Farm, Inc. and is the second stakes winner for his Grade 1-winning sire.
