Creative Cause had the top-selling filly during Tuesday’s opening session of the April 25-28 OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, when Peter Brant’s White Birch Farm went to $575,000 for the striking gray juvenile.
Eddie Woods, agent, consigned hip No. 262. The filly had worked a quarter-mile in 21 seconds flat at last week’s Under Tack Show.
“I think [Creative Cause] has about 29 runners,” Alan Quartucci, who signed the ticket on Brant’s behalf, remarked. “I think he is on the right track in terms of becoming a good stallion.”
“She’s just a stone runner,” consignor Eddie Woods added. “She’s tall, leggy, has a great shoulder on her, decent hip. She’s very balanced looking and she moves beautifully.”
Bred by Airdrie owner Brereton Jones, the filly is the second foal out of the Harlan’s Holiday mare Church by the Sea, whose first foal Hay Dakota won the Commonwealth Turf S. (G3) at Churchill Downs.
Creative Cause, whose first crop are 3-year-olds of 2017, is the sire of multiple stakes winner Twisted Tom, likely to make his next start in the May 20 Preakness S. (G1).
