Chanteline looks sharp in $125K Spring Fever S. win

Chanteline captured her second stakes win in her last three starts on Saturday when the daughter of Majesticperfection took the $125,000 Spring Fever S. at Oaklawn Park by 1 1/4-lengths.

Chanteline covered the 5 1/2-furlongs in quick 1:04.29 despite a three-wide trip around the turn. Out of the gate very quickly, Chanteline still had to contest the lead with a pair of foes to her inside. Backing off just a bit, she re-rallied at the head of the stretch and was going along very well when she crossed the finish line ahead of Marquee Miss.

“The filly, she was feeling great today,” winning rider Ricardo Santana Jr. said. “We got a perfect trip today. We sat off the pace, and turning for home she picked it up. She was much the best today. My filly, when she started feeling the other horses from behind, she never gave up. She found the wire first.”

Chanteline, owned by Ten Broeck Farm, won the Richie Scherer Memorial S. in December, and is now 6-6-3 in 21 starts and has earned $393,972. Bred by Brereton Jones, Chanteline sold for $130,000 as a weanling at Keeneland November.

Majesticperfection, the sire of Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner and millionaire Lovely Maria, will be represented by his largest two crops as 2- and 3-year-olds of 2018.
