$400K, $325K Cairo Prince 2-year-olds at F-T Gulfstream sale

The offspring of Cairo Prince continued to be some of the most prized juveniles at auction by any first-crop sire, this time on March 28 at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale of 2-year-olds, with Katsumi Yoshida paying $400,000 and $325,000, for a colt and filly, respectively, by the Airdrie Stud stallion.

The colt, hip No. 101 consigned by SBM Training and Sales, comes from a female family loaded with black type. The colt’s dam, Dattts Lady Di, is a half-sister to Grab Your Heart, a multiple graded stakes winner in Japan.

The filly, hip No. 163, was consigned by Randy Bradshaw, agent. Her dam, Spanish Post, is out of the multiple stakes winner Spanish Play and is half-sister to another multiple stakes winner in Spanish Decree as well as River Princess, the dam of multiple graded winner Silver Timber.

Cairo Prince’s first runners should be seen on the racetrack in the coming weeks as the 2-year-old racing season begins.  In the sales ring, he’s had five lots bring an average of $276,000, over 27 times his bred-on stud fee.
