The first session of the April 24-27 OBS 2-year-old sale yielded more excellent returns for first-crop sire Cairo Prince, led by a $260,000 colt purchased by Sterling Racing LLC.
Cairo Prince had five lots sold on Tuesday, for an average of $153,800, more than 15 times his bred-on stud fee.
The $260,000 colt, hip No. 241, was consigned by Eiseman Equine, agent. Out of the Curlin mare Current Event, the colt is from the same family as millionaire and Grade 1 winner Stephen Got Even and multiple Grade 1 winner Artemis Agrotera.
Another highlight on the day was hip No. 218, consigned by Costanzo Sales and purchased by Kenji Ryotokuji Holdings for $235,000. The colt’s graded stakes-placed dam Copelan’s Angel has nine winners to date, including black type winner Fly Away Angel.
Cairo Prince has an additional 18 lots cataloged in the final three days of the Ocala auction.
