$350,000 Cairo Prince colt Tuesday at F-T Midlantic Sale

The hot week for First-Crop sire Cairo Prince continued on Tuesday at the May 21-22 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in Training Sale when Jacob West’s West Bloodstock went to $350,000 for hip No. 418.

Consigned by Bobby Dodd, agent, the bay colt is the second foal out of Perfect Pegasus, who is a half-sister to graded stakes winner and track record-setter Perfect Officer.

“He was a lovely horse and obviously by a hot sire,” West said after signing the ticket. “He performed well on the racetrack and jumped through all the hoops for everyone. It was pretty straightforward.”

Cairo Prince has been one of the lead First-Crop sires at this year’s 2-year-old sales, with an average price of nearly $141,000. On the racetrack, the Airdrie stallion got his first winner on May 19 when the filly Abyssinian rolled to a seven-length maiden special weight victory at Belmont Park.
