Majestic Affair, the ultra-consistent son of Majesticperfection, won the fourth stakes of his career on Sunday at Ellis Park, taking the $50,000 Good Lord S. by 1 1/4-lengths (VIDEO).
The well-traveled 6-year-old has faced some top-class competition throughout his career, finishing second in the General George S. (G3) and third in the Alysheba S. (G2). With Sunday’s win, he is now 9-4-1 in 20 starts and has banked $541,857 for owners Tom Coleman, Doheny Racing Stable and Madaket Stable.
Trained by Brad Cox, Majestic Affair victory in the Good Lord wasn’t secured until the final furlong. He was caught between and behind horses for the first half-mile, then found clear running in upper stretch to forge by Shut the Box in the final eighth-mile to get the 6 1/2-furlongs in 1:15.41.
Majestic Affair was bred in Kentucky by Doug Oliver. His dam Blumin Beauty was a five-time stakes winner herself.
