Mihos, a $320,000 yearling purchase, kicked off Saturday’s results for Cairo Prince with a “TDN Rising Star” performance in his maiden special weight score at Aqueduct, winning geared down by 1 ¼-lengths in 1:11.20.
Well-handled by Rajiv Maragh throughout, Mihos tracked in third before taking over at will at the top of the lane, then was hand-ridden to the wire.
Mihos was purchased by his owner Centennial Farm at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale. He is out of Feline Flatline, an unraced sister to Del Mar Oaks (G1) winner Sharla Rae.
Shortly after Mihos’ win, Admire broke his maiden by a half-length at Churchill Downs to give Cairo Prince his 17th winner from his first crop, with progeny earnings nearing $1 million.
Admire, bred by Brereton Jones an owned by Albaugh Family Stables, is out of the graded stakes-placed mare Visavis, whose siblings include Grade 3 winner Wild At Heart and stakes winner Northern Belle and Pickapocket.
