Already a leading First Crop Sire in the US, Cairo Prince is making his name known in Japan through the exploits of his first-crop daughter, Mont Perdu. A New York-bred filly, bred by Bluewater Sales LLC and Three Diamonds Farm, Mont Perdu has won both of her starts with almost comical ease. She made her debut at Kyoto in a 16-runner newcomer maiden on November 17th, and won by about 4 lengths after being geared right down in the closing stages. REPLAY https://youtu.be/IF0raH4vQwo
Last Sunday, she made her much-anticipated reappearance in an allowance at Kyoto. Her fifteen rivals, 10 of which were colts, were all previous winners and included several stakes performers. They were summarily dismissed by Mont Perdu, who ran them off their feet as the 8/5 favorite to win in hand by 3 1/2 lengths. REPLAY https://twitter.com/i/status/1084297002249183232
Katsumi Yoshida’s Northern Farm purchased Mont Perdu for $325,000 from Randy Bradshaw’s consignment at the Fasig-Tipton Florida Two-Year-Old Sale in March 2018. Randy Bradshaw had previously purchased her for $115,000 at the 2017 Fasig-Tipton New York Preferred Yearling Sale from Bluewater Sales, LLC.
One of 19 first-crop winners by Cairo Prince, the future looks particularly bright for Mont Perdu.
