Summer Front was represented by his first winner on Friday May 3rd, when CITY FRONT, a two-year-old colt out of Veneti (Old Trieste), ran out an easy winner of a Maiden Special Weight at Indiana Grand for Brad Simpson Stables, LLC. On his debut at Keeneland, City Front ran greenly through the turn and ended up “extremely wide at the quarter pole” according to his running line. He finished unplaced behind the high class winner, Lady Pauline. With that experience behind him, he quickly assumed the lead on Friday and drew off through the stretch to a three-and-a-half length victory, with his four rivals strung out over 20 lengths behind him.
Bred by Two Stamp Stables, City Front was purchased by Brad Simpson Stables at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling Sale. He is trained by John Dyer, and was ridden to victory by Deshawn Parker.
Veneti is now a 100% producer, with three winners from her first three starters. Stakes-placed at Belmont and Retama Park, Veneti is a half-sister to the multiple GSP juvenile, Special Jo (Johannesburg), and to the stakes-placed runner, Quiet Delight, and hails from the family of G1 winner, Brass Hat.
Summer Front himself was an undefeated multiple SW juvenile, and with 98 registered two-year-olds in his first crop, he has plenty of ammunition to figure among the leaders of his strong stallion class. Apart from registering his first winner, Summer Front has also been represented by six-figure sellers at a host of breeze-up sales including OBS April, OBS March, Fasig-Tipton Florida, and the second-highest priced seller at Tattersalls’ Ascot 2yo Sale.
