More international demand for Summer Front’s first juveniles

A colt from the first crop of Summer Front sold for 240,000 euros (approx. $270,000) at the Arqana Breeze-Up sale in Deauville on Saturday May 11th to US-based trainer, Patrick Biancone. Bred by Rob Tillyer and Eric Buckley out of their mare, East India, the colt had been purchased by Powerstown Stud for $80,000 at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale, and underwent his early training in Ireland, prior to generating a big profit at the French sale.

A seven-year-old daughter of Mizzen Mast, East India has produced four foals, the second of whom is the Summer Front colt. She is a half-sister to the Stakes Winner, Flavor, and the Stakes-placed runner, Seasoned, who in turn is the dam of Diamond Bachelor, a Stakes Winner by Summer Front’s sire, War Front, who was trained and held in very high regard by Biancone. East India’s second dam is Right Word, the ancestress of a raft of Group and Graded Stakes Winners including the likes of Raven’s Pass (G1), No Matter What (G1), Rainbow View (G1), E Dubai (G2) and Utley (G2).

Summer Front has now been represented by six-figure juvenile sale horses at Fasig-Tipton Florida, OBS March, OBS April and the Tattersalls Ascot Breeze-Up Sale, in addition to Arqana. With 98 registered first-crop two-year-olds, Summer Front is one for your shortlist in this competitive class of Freshman Sires.
