A dominant debut for BC Jones’ homebred filly, Indian Pride

Brereton C. Jones’ homebred filly, Indian Pride, a member of the penultimate crop of the late Airdrie stallion, Proud Citizen, was a most impressive winner on debut at Saratoga this afternoon. Breaking sharply under Javier Castellano, Indian Pride went to the front setting rapid fractions of 22.19 and 45.36 before coasting home 8 lengths clear under a motionless Castellano, in 1:09.45. She earned TDN Rising Star status while enhancing the reputation she had earned from the talent she displayed in the mornings. Her $3.20 win payoff showed that she was no secret to the betting public.

A three-year-old daughter of Ms. Cornstalk (Indian Charlie), Indian Pride is a half-sister to two individual Sovereign Award and Graded Stakes winners in Biofuel, who was Horse Of The Year as well as Champion 2yo and Champion 3yo filly in Canada, and Tu Endie Wei, who also was Canada’s Champion 2yo filly. Ms. Cornstalk has also produced a 2yo colt by Creative Cause, aptly named Imperial Presence, and a yearling colt by Runhappy who will be offered in Book 1 of the upcoming Keeneland September Yearling Sale as Hip 551. In 2019 Ms. Cornstalk produced a colt by Champion, Gun Runner, and was bred to Quality Road.

We look forward to a bright future for Indian Pride, and plenty more to come from Ms. Cornstalk.
