Speaktomeofsummer becomes new SW for Summer Front

Airdrie-bred juvenile filly, Speaktomeofsummer, was an impressive winner of the Chelsey Flower S. at Aqueduct on November 3rd for her sire’s original connections, Tom Moore’s Waterford Stable and Christophe Clement. Purchased as a weanling for $135,000 by Steve Young on behalf of Moore at the 2017 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, Speaktomeofsummer has now won both of her starts, since her off-the-turf debut, and has earnings of $84,000.

Despite a sedate pace with splits of 49 3/5 and 1:14 2/5, Speaktomeofsummer was content to bide her time near the back of the 10-runner field. When asked, she made a rail-skimming move on the second turn, before “roaring by” the leaders in the stretch to win by two comfortable lengths, earning a 76 Beyer.

Speaktomeofsummer is another exciting stakes winner from one of B.C. Jones’ best female families. Her dam, Silver Reunion, winner of the G3 Endeavour S. and Riskaverse S., and runner-up in the G2 Ballston Spa S., is already the dam of SW Proud Reunion and More Fun Again, who this summer was placed in the G3 Dr. James Penny Memorial S. Silver Reunion is herself out of the G2 Mrs. Revere S. winner, Silver Comic, who in turn is a half-sister to Champion Lucayan Prince and MGSW Comic Strip. A number of exciting young members of the Airdrie Stud broodmare band descend from this family, including Majestic Smile, whose 2018 colt by Summer Front sold for $280,000 to Jay Em Ess Stable at this year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Silver Reunion herself has a promising 3yo daughter in Lifetime Memory, who won on debut at Belmont Park in late September for her owner/breeder B.C. Jones and Christophe Clement. Her weanling of 2019 is a full-sister to Speaktomeofsummer, and she is currently in foal to new sire, Collected, for 2020.

Also on Sunday, Summer Clothes became Summer Front’s newest winner when taking a $48,000 Maiden Special Weight at Gulfstream Park West for owner/breeder Bret Jones and Rodolphe Brisset. Summer Clothes ran down the favorite, Elusive Molly, trained by Mark Casse for Tracy Farmer, to win by a half-length with the pair having pulled clear of the remainder of the field.

Summer Front, a MGSW millionaire son of War Front is also the sire of GSW Fighting Seabee who took to the dirt with aplomb when a close second in the Street Sense S. at Churchill Downs a week ago.
