McCraken’s First Foals Reported

The first foals by Airdrie Stud’s McCraken, a multiple Graded Stakes-winning son of Ghostzapper, have been reported.

Adele Dazeem, an Unbridled’s Song daughter of the stakes winner Seacrettina, produced a colt foal at Machmer Hall in Paris, KY. “He is a big leggy colt with tremendous bone showing that McCraken was well suited to one of our Unbridled’s Song mares. We are very pleased”, said Machmer Hall’s Carrie Brogden.

The first foal to be reported is a filly out of the maiden mare, Scatback, a winning daughter of Scat Daddy from the family of Graded Stakes winners, Z Humor and Chip. Bred in partnership by Everything’s Cricket Racing and Stonegate Stables, she was born at William and Carolyn Johnson’s Stonegate Farm in Fort Edward, NY. “This is a very pretty filly. She is well balanced, looks fast, and is a great example of a stallion stamping his foal. She is McCraken all the way, and we are pleased to have the first one,” said Stonegate’s Bill Johnson.

The Stakes-winning mare, Exposure, produced a filly by McCraken at Millennium Farm for breeder, Go-To-Toga Racing, LLC. “We are very excited about the filly we have,” said Go-To-Toga Racing’s Agent, Zach Madden of Buckland Sales. “She has tons of quality, bone and substance. A very solid foal.”

McCraken was undefeated in three starts as a juvenile for Whitham Thoroughbreds and Ian Wilkes, including wins in the Street Sense S. and the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club S. at Churchill Downs. He broke the track record on his three-year-old debut when winning the G3 Sam F. Davis S. at Tampa Bay Downs to remain undefeated, and also took the G3 Matt Winn S. at Churchill Downs. He finished second by a nose to Girvin in the G1 Haskell Invitational, ahead of Grade 1 winners Practical Joke and Battle Of Midway.

McCraken stands at Airdrie Stud for a fee of $10,000 stands and nurses. For more information please visit www.airdriestud.com, or contact Cormac Breathnach at [email protected] or 859-873-7270.
