Both Upstart and Summer Front will both be represented with colts in Friday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at Keeneland.
The Juvenile is the final race of the day, the 10th, at 5:15 p.m. ET.
Summer Front’s Camp Hope, who won his debut by four lengths on Oct. 25 at Churchill Downs, drew post 1 in the full field of 14. Trained by Ken McPeek for Walking L Thoroughbreds, the bay colt brought $200,000 at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Yearlings sale. Camp Hope was bred by Airdrie’s Bret Jones
Two stalls to his outside, Upstart’s Reinvestment Risk will break from post three. With three races under his belt, Reinvestment Risk has a maiden win and seconds in both the Hopeful S. (G1) and Champagne S. (G1). He is trained by Chad Brown for Klaravich Stables and sold for $280,000 at the OBS March 2-year-old sale. Reinvestment Risk was bred by Aschinger Bloodstock Holdings Inc.
Summer Front, who won stakes races in four consecutive years, is a top-10 Second-Crop sire with seven stakes horses to date. He will stand the 2021 season for $10,000 S&N. Upstart has got off to a terrific start with his first crop this year, with 16 winners to date. He too will stand for $10,000 next year.
