Summer Front’s latest stakes winner Shea D Summer was stellar in her added-money debut Saturday at Gulfstream Park West, drawing off in the stretch to win the $60,000 Juvenile Fillies Sprint S. by 6 3/4-lengths.
The dark bay filly, who broke her maiden at first asking on Oct. 7, is perfect in two starts and has earned $58,428 for the Shea D Boy’s Stable.
After a brief four-way tussle for the lead at the break, Shea D Summer emerged on top at the quarter-mile mark with a half-length margin on Briella. That pair continued their battle for the next two furlongs, when Shea D Summer began to pull away. All alone in the stretch, she finished the 6 1/2-furlongs in 1:17.09 on the sloppy main track.
Bred by Ocala Stud, Shea D Summer has three multiple winning siblings and comes from the same family as Breeders’ Cup Juvenile S. (G1) winner Flanders.
Summer Front is having an excellent 2020 with his second crop of runners. He is in the Top 10 by stakes horses, stakes winners and winners. His 2021 fee will be $10,000 S&N.
