American Freedom had another excellent showing during Wednesday’s closing session of the OBS 2-year-olds in Training sale, led by a pair of six-figure colts.
With an average sale price of $123,667, American Freedom finished in the top five among all First-Crop sires represented at the sale.
Wednesday’s best result for the Airdrie stallion came when hip No. 461, consigned by Pick View LLC, agent, sold for $260,000 to Shepherd Equine Advisers, agent for Larry Hirsch. The colt is out of Divine Happiness, a half-sister to stakes winner Spring Rush.
A few minutes earlier in the session hip No. 446, from the Gene Ricio consignment, went to Marrett Farrell, agent for Exline-Border Racing LLC, for $150,000. The colt hails from a deep female family; his third dam is champion La Chaposa (PER), dam of Grade 1 winners Chaposa Springs & You and I.
American Freedom’s next first-crop offerings will come at the Fasig-Tipton March Sale, held at Gulfstream Park on the last day of the month.
