Summer Front’s top-class 3-year-old filly Shea D Summer won her third career stakes race Aug. 7 at Gulfstream Park in the $75,000 Azalea S., defeating Restofthestory by 3 1/4-lengths.
With prior wins in the Juvenile Fillies Sprint at Gulfstream West last year and the Game Face S. this June, Shea D Summer is now 4-1-0 in eight starts and has earned $170,071 for Shea D Boy’s Stable.
The filly is one of Summer Front’s six stakes horses this year. The multiple graded stakes winner, who stood for $10,000 in 2021, is represented by his third crop of runners this term.
Shea D Summer was away willingly and battled head-to-head with Kamar Taj for a half-mile before that one gave way. Shea D Summer pulled away from the field with ease and was going along nicely when she stopped the timer in 1:23.11 for the seven furlongs on a fast track.
Shea D Summer was bred in Florida by Ocala Stud. Her dam Empress of Gold has produced a trio of prior foals, all multiple winners. Shea D Summer is related the champion 2-year-old filly Flanders through her third dam Starlet Storm.
