Princess of Cairo finished with a flourish in Sunday’s Emerald Distaff S. at Emerald Downs to give the 4-year-old Cairo Prince filly her second career stakes win.
The Sandi Gann trainee was reserved for most of the 1 1/16-miles, sitting in fourth until well into the stretch, when she found the winning stride to finish full of run, winning by four lengths in 1:42.69 on a fast track.
The dark bay filly has won five of 12 starts for owners Mark DeDomenico LLC and the North American Thoroughbred Horse Company. She was bred by Bret Jones and is out of Lovely Cool, also the dam of stakes winners Divine Gift and Lulu Wong.
Cairo Prince now has six stakes horses in 2021 and is currently ranked second on this year’s Fourth-Crop sire list with nearly $3.8 million in progeny earnings.
