Sunshine City showed her heels to the field from the start en route to a 3 3/4-length tally in Saturday’s $75,000 Miss Gracie S. over the Gulfstream Park turf course.
The 3-year-old filly, who came into the race off a victory just six days prior, was full of run right from the break, sprinting to a 1 1/2-length lead in the first quarter-mile. Going along easily through a half-mile in :47.29, she started to pull away soon after that point and never let up to finish the “about” 7 1/2-furlongs on the firm turf in 1:28.16.
Sunshine City has now won three straight starts and is 6-1-2 in 15 starts overall, earning $162,555 for Phillip DiCosmo. The winner was bred by Ken and Sarah Ramsey. She is third foal, all winners, out of the War Front mare Object. This is also the family of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Sea Hero.
Creative Cause now has 18 lifetime stakes winners, among the top five from sires of his generation. He stood the 2021 season for $7,500 S&N.
