American Playboy’s game stretch run Friday at Laurel Park gave American Freedom his 11th winner this year, moving the freshman sire into the Top 10 on the First-Crop sire list.
American Playboy came from a few lengths off the pace to engage Bust’em Kurt at the top of the stretch, then outdueled his foe to win the six-furlong contest by a half-length.
The winner, who was making just his second lifetime start, is owned by Louis Ulman and was bred in Kentucky by Bellary Bloodstock. American Playboy is the second foal out of Stormin Sandy, whose siblings include multiple stakes winners My Dinah and Them There Eyes.
In addition to his impressive tally of winners, American Freedom is the sire of the multiple stakes-placed colt American Sanctuary. American Freedom’s winners’ list could grow further with his seven entries over the next three days.
