Ten Most Wanted Captures the Grade 1 Travers!

Saratoga Springs, NY, August 23rd –

Ten Most Wanted bided his time in the early fractions of the 1 1/2 mile Travers Stakes while pacesetters, Peace Rules and Strong Hope battled on the lead. Approaching the final turn, he switched leads and began lengthening his stride. Jockey Pat Day swung the big, dark bay colt to the outside, where he kicked home to win convincingly by 4 1/2 lengths!!

Deputy Commander, 1997 G1 Travers winner, by G1 Deputy Minister (sire of 6 champions) out of G1 Anka Germania, is exactly what he was bred to be, a Grade 1 sire for the classics. Deputy Commander has already sired three Grade 1 horses from his first crop (3 year olds of 2003). He is obviously developing into one of America’s most exciting new classic sires.

Ten Most Wanted boosted his earnings to $1,253,460 and race record to 9-3-3-1. Future plans include either the 1 1/8 mile Super Derby (G2) on September 20th or the 1 1/4 mile Hawthorne Gold Cup (G2) on September 28th, leading up to the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) in October.

His connections feel that he is maturing at the right time, is strong and healthy: and that the best is yet to come!
