The versatility of Afternoon Deelites runners continued on August 30th, when he had three winners of different ages, at different distances, by different margins and on different surfaces!
In addition, his two-year-old filly, Homemaker was rolling from dead last at the end of the $100,000 La Senorita Stakes at 1 mile on the turf to just miss by a head!
Hazy Afternoon, a 4yo gelding squeezed out a 6 1/2 furlong victory by a nose; Jodys Deelite comfortably won a 6 1/2 furlong test by 4 lengths; and, My Sunny Deelite smoked the field in a 5 1/2 furlong race to win by 10 3/4 lengths!!
Jodys Deelite bested a field of top fillies – including Westerly Breeze, the winner of the 2002 Alcibiades (G3) at Keeneland. The three year old gained the lead early while wide and settled, then gradually inched away to win by 4!
The 2yo winner, My Sunny Deelite, enjoyed a sloppy track by sprinting away early. As the field changed positions behind her, she stayed in the clear to draw off for an outstanding 10 3/4 length win!
So far in 2003, Afternoon Deelites has 47 winners of 54 races, with earnings of $1,452,063!
