BWANA CHARLIE wins the Grade 3 Lafayette Stakes at Keeneland!

BWANA CHARLIE making his stakes debut celebrated his third straight victory and his first graded stakes win. BWANA CHARLIE survived a four horse speed duel (with fractions of 21:68 for a quarter and :44.08 for a half) to draw away and win by 3 1/4 lengths ahead of Quick Action stopping the clock at 1:24.73.

This improved his lifetime record to 8-3-2-3 and increased his earnings to $134,350. Congratulations to Heiligbrodt Racing Stable and Steve Asmussen, winners two years in a row (2003 with Posse).

PAMPERED PRINCESS, previously a stakes winner in the Wayward Lass Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on February 28, 2004 at Tampa Bay Downs went to the lead here by the quarter pole. She battled for the lead until the eigth pole and finished third to NONSUCH BAY. Earlier this year, PAMPERED PRINCESS beat NONSUCH BAY in an Allowance race at this same track on January 29th.
