Third winner for freshman sire Yankee Victor

YANKEE VICTOR now has three winners in his first crop to race – all breaking their maidens in their first starts.

The latest was YANKEE GATOR racing in his debut at 5 furlongs in sunny southern California. A 2YO colt out of a Copelan mare, he was a $50,000 Fasig-Tipton July yearling in 2003.  Yankee Gator broke last and settled at the back, he offered a strong bid into the turn but was forced to circle four then five wide into the stretch, he rallied and took the lead late to win by a nose and stop the clock in :58 2/5.
