A truly impressive race for 2-yr-old colt by Forest Camp, THE PHARAOH. After shipping across country from Florida following his 2nd place finish in Calder’s Bird on the Wire Stakes, subsequent sale and change of trainer, it was a very smart effort by the chestnut who was just making his third start.
The Pharaoh was pinned on the rail in behind the pacesetters One Union and A.P. Warrior with Bashert to the outside. Jockey Jon Court shuffled The Pharaoh back through the turn angling out wide to gain position going into the stretch. The Pharaoh fought on well and continued a strong drive to the wire spearheading a tight pack to gain second.
