MISTY ROSETTE wins Tampa Bay’s $60,000 Sandpiper Stakes with ease.
Trainer James Chapman guided the full sister to STORM WOLF to her stakes debut in only her second start, after she wired a field of maidens at Calder by six lengths in early December. Facing a field of 11 experienced fillies in the lineup and breaking from the 11 hole, she showed good tactical speed. Misty Rosette shook free leaving the turn and was away smartly opening up a 3 3/4 length lead and she clearly finished with something left upon gaining the wire. The filly finished in 1:10.2, the fastest time in the 27 runnings of the Sandpiper.
