Juveniles by Airdrie stallions Forest Camp, Indian Charlie, Stormin Fever and freshman sire Include sold exceptionally well in helping to send the Calder sale into the record books.
Forest Camp– Already the sire of the $650,000 OBS 2yo sales topper just a few short weeks ago, Forest Camp continued his assention as one of the most commercial young sires in the industry. His five sold averaged $347,000, tops for all second crop sires, ahead of Songandaprayer, Tiznow and El Corredor. His top priced colt, a breathtaking colt from the consignment of Maurice Miller, took a final bid of $825,000.
Indian Charlie– One of the stars of the record breaking sale was the Cieran Dunne consigned Indian Charlie colt out of Pear Shape by Red Ransom. A $250,000 Keeneland September yearling, the colt was among the most talked about horses on the grounds and justified the hype in bringing a $1.2 million dollar bid from Nobutaka Tada.
Stormin Fever– Consigned by Robert Scanlon, Stormin Fever’s lone entrant in the sale represesented his stallion well. An exceptional looking individual who breezed an effortless 10:3, the striking colt out of a Pleasant Colony mare brought a final bid of $375,000 from Donada Farm.
Include– Airdrie’s freshman sire Include, the leading freshman sire at the Saratoga select sale, continued to establish himself as a top commercial sire as his daughter out of the French Deputy mare Lady Biscayne was purchased for $250,000 by Tom Van Meter. The striking filly will be given every chance to succeed and succeed early, as she will enter the barn of top trainer Bob Baffert to begin her 2006 campaign.
