LAVA MAN showed he belonged in elite company as he continued his domination of the California racing scene by becoming only the 3rd horse in history to win consecutive Santa Anita Handicaps joining John Henry and Milwaukee Brew. He was sent off the 3-5 favorite carrying 124 pounds and came home in 2:02.11. Last years performance he carried 120 pounds and stopped the clock in 2:00.57 defeating Breeders Cup star Wilko.
Connections have yet to decide if LAVA MAN will make the ultimate road trip to Dubai for the World Cup Series.
