Brereton and Elizabeth Jones’ Airdrie Stud has purchased a majority interest in the breeding rights of the recent G1 Metropolitan Handicap winner Divine Park; this transaction will ensure that the son of Chester House will begin his stud career at the Midway, Kentucky farm upon retirement.
A winner of 6 of 8 lifetime starts thus far, including his last three, Divine Park preceded his G1 Met Mile score with a 5-length score in the GIII Westchester H. at Belmont Park, running the mile in 1:32 3/5. Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin for owner James Barry, Divine Park has earned $607,935 to date and is being pointed towards the G1 Whitney Handicap at Saratoga July 26th.
Brereton Jones said, “The entire Airdrie Team is really excited to have what is possibly America‘s most brilliant miler in line to stand at Airdrie Stud when he retires from the track. Divine Park fits the mold of a number of our young stallions as an absolute physical knock out that will excite the most discriminating breeders. It’s very exciting to have such a quality horse on line for the future and equally exciting to team up with quality people like owner James Barry and trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. Quality people and quality horses make for a great relationship!”
