Another Oaks, another convincing victory for Proud Spell, the nation’s leading 3-year-old filly in training. Winning her third Oaks of the season following victories in the GII Fair Grounds Oaks and GI Kentucky Oaks, Proud Spell demonstrated her trademark determination through the lane to take the rich contest by a measured length. Proud Spell will now turn her attention to the historic GI Alabama Stakes at Saratoga, to be run on August 16th. Her victory helped her sire Proud Citizen regain his lead as the leading sophomore sire in the nation, overtaking fellow Airdrie resident Harlan’s Holiday and pushing his seasonal earnings to over $2 million.
