WICKEDLY FAST: Harlan’s Holiday’s 2-Year-old Necessary Evil breathtaking in her record-setting debut!

It didn’t take long for the pre-race buzz to begin after entries were drawn for Sunday’s 4th race.  While the summer two-year-old races always attract attention in southern California, Sunday’s 4th promised even more intrigue thanks to the presence of the $1.7 million November sales grad Mi Sueno, a Pulpit filly out of the talented Grade I winner Madcape Escapade and the very first starter sired by the brilliant champion Ghostzapper.  However, from the break of the gate to the wire, it was the Harlan’s Holiday filly Necessary Evil that stole the show.  Breaking on top, the talented Glencrest color-bearer never looked to be in any danger as she sped to the lead and only increased her magin through the stretch for an effortless 3 and 3/4 length victory.  Despite the absolute ease with which she won, her final time was good for a new Hollywood Park track record and a remarkable 92 Beyer Speed Figure, the 2nd highest (and just 1 point behind the year’s topper) figure for any two-year-old to race in the United States this year.

Trained by Doug O’Neill for owners Glencrest and Dapple Stables, this Harlan’s Holiday filly looks to be a major player on the two-year-old stakes scene this year.  Congratulations to all her excited connections!
