In his first conventioanl dirt start after a flawless record on the California synthetics that included an effortless win in the G3 San Rafael S, Conveyance cemented his spot on the Kentucky Derby short list with an impressive victory over a talented Southwest S. field. Having to be hussled to the lead as a result of his outside post, Conveyance flew through an opening first quarter in 22 and change, but still had enough in the tank to hold off GI winner Dublin at the wire. The undefeated son of Indian Charlie, trained by Bob Baffert for Zabeel racing, could make his next start in the GI Wood Memorial, though with his ability to perform brilliantly on both surfaces, he is certainly a horse with a lot of options.
